An extensive horse cruelty investigation conducted by the Humane Society of Washington County, Maryland in December resulted in the rescue of 75 horses from a Sharpsburg, MD farm. These horses have been relocated pending the disposition of a criminal case against the owner. Charges include 72 misdemeanor counts of abuse or neglect of animals and 4 felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Extensive rehabilitation is required.
Until the case is legally resolved, the Humane Society is tasked with the enormous responsibility of rehabilitating the 70-plus sick, injured and underweight horses and restoring them to a state of health. This includes feed, veterinary care, farrier services, medicine, supplements, and much more. The initial outpouring of support from numerous individuals helped to purchase enough hay to feed these horses through early February, however...
Our hay supply is quickly dwindling.
Donations are badly needed to purchase an additional supply of grass hay to feed these animals through February.
What you can do to help.
